A surreal "Biopunk Fantasy" Horror|Action RPG from the depths of subconsiousness.
I never intended to make this game. But I saw it in a dream, so I had to make it! For some strange reason, that's pretty rare for me. I have seen about 3 dreams in my whole life (or more likely, those are all I remember). I had to try at least.
(time skip here)
And here it is. I actually made the game I saw in a dream. What could be more surreal than that?
3 MOST IMPORTANT FEATURES:
Rare - forgotten/unknown - Biopunk sci-fi/fantasy setting; short but multi-layered story
Unique <direct click> battle system: no time wasted! Hit whatever you see wherever it is!
Mostly Wall-less level design and portal-based world. *more about it in the section below...
WARNINGS:
I
Exploration done differently, and I think it's preferable to know, before you try the game.
- Most rooms/locations are connected via portals.
- You always start in the center of the area (room/location).
- Locations have no real boundaries - they are infinite. (That means: the real content is always close to the center. There is nothing to find on the edges!)
- The only right way to navigate is finding and following "the guides". Some are actual signposts, some are text hints, some are the paths that creatures follow, etc. Surprisingly, that kind of navigation is much closer to real life, than anything.
II
NO GAMEPAD SUPPORT! You have to click rather quickly and with a high precision too. Keyboard and mouse is the only comfortable (and well tested) way to play it.

For more info about the game - read the manual. [I will add a link to it later]

Congratulations on coming up with a new game. I'm excited to try it out when it comes out. didn't you mention wanting to create something RPG related in the artbook for R.U.N.E 3000? if so, is this it?
ReplyDeleteThanks! Originally I was planning something big like a 2D Witcher 3 or Skyrim... Well, I failed :D The project was too big for me. Later I started working on Saturn Quest 4. Even later, after seeing a game in a dream, I decided to make it and it's now Bioysque. So yes, I think it's indeed my one and only RPG ever. It's a very complex genre, demanding, tricky :)
DeleteI think you mentioned it being called the "White meteor saga" previously. I'm guessing things have changed? if so, that's okay. I'm curious to know what the plan is going forward.
ReplyDeleteWhite Meteor Saga is an epic militaristic alien story I have in mind, but I don't know what to do with it at the moment. Imagine Metal Gear but with aliens in a world like Star Wars but no humans. This is WMS. ...may be, someday. It's too big for me at the moment :)
DeleteThe plan right now is to finish my beloved Saturn Quest saga with SQ4. Should be released this year as well.
After that I plan a "serious techno-leap". I'll change both an engine and my visual style. Kind of like moving from 16 bit to 32.
nvm I just checked. You made this from something in a dream. Honestly, I totally feel you there. I've had extremely vivid dreams before too. I'm lucky enough to even have the energy to write down about whatever shows up in them. good job doing all of this. when I'm playing, I'll probably be curious about what parts of it were from the dream specifically.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Sorry for the misunderstanding, but the dream was - the game itself! All I remember is playing a video game. I just made that game in real life. The resemblance is about 100% - it's that game exactly. But of course I'm adding a lot of extra stuff, since the dream felt like... kind of like a trailer. A teaser even. :)
DeleteI learned about you from Dosh Doshington's YT video about your games - though I admit I didn't play any of them. Hope to change that with Bioysque, wishlisted and will buy :).
ReplyDeleteHello there, greetings from Brazil!
ReplyDeleteI am an English teacher, and I'm exploring my passion for game localization, and I currently offer my services for free to developers.
Through partnered projects, I want to build trust and show that my work is real and honest. My mission is to support amazing games like yours by providing localization that is authentic, immersive, and true to the original work. I only ask for a letter of recommendation once the work is done, so I can keep building my professional portfolio.
If that sounds interesting to you, feel free to check out my work and current projects here:
