  1. Hello,

out of personal interest, what kind of engine are you using for your games?

Is it selfmade? Apart from that, i really dig your art style.

    Keep it up!

    1. Thanks!

I'm using Game Maker Studio 2. The only exception so far is my old adventure game Ghostdream - it's made on Adventure Game Studio. I'm also planning to use RPG Maker for my... well, RPG :D

  2. Just a heads up: I checked out your Castlevania game. And while I wasn't a fan of the slow and plodding gameplay itself, I thought that your enemy and area designs, music, story and the overall ambiance of the game was AMAZING!!! I especially liked that retro ending! You are definitely extremely creative and have some serious artistic skills!

P.S. In case you have never heard of me, I am the person remaking SOTN in Unity.

    1. (Yes, I know you - we have met before somewhere (either on the Castlevania forums or Youtube) and of course I can't wait to play your epic version of SOTN.)

Glad you like TSOTC! Thank you. I agree it's slow and plodding - you are right. I just wanted you to travel slowly and peacefully from one forest to another. Seriously, it was my top priority gameplay-wise :D

  3. Just watched a full playthrough of your game D1896, and I am BLOWN AWAY by your artistic vision and ability. It's unbelievable to me that you are such a highly skilled artist AND composer AND that you can translate both of those skills so well into extremely creative games.

Your puzzles as well are brutal and ingenious.

    1. Thank you very much! I still hope I can do better :) And I have the third episode to prove it (working on it right now).

  6. Can you maybe adress some of the questions people have on the steam discussion board?
Doesn't hurt to check out once a awhile, and most importantly get some steam achievements in your games especially for Mirage? It could attract a certain group that would buy games just for that.

    1. Yes, I should check the discussion boards more often. But no achievements. I see no enjoyment in steam achievements neither as a gamer, nor as a developer. And I can't make things that I don't enjoy myself.

  7. Hey, Silly Question, but do You have some place where you post your drawings/paintings ? I played some of Your games, but right now I'd love to see your works, like the one in your "About" page, it's something really nice ;)

    1. No, not anymore - this web-site is my only castle on the internet :)

I plan to release an Anniversary Art Book on 2024 Q1 (a paper version as well (may be)). That art book will contain all of my relatively good artwork :)

    2. So, are you planning to release an art of yours in books style, thus? I'm not lying to you, this is just so. I've kinda tried something alike. I've worked hard and despite the dusty fog by work I found myself in, things appear yet lacking a good grab of finalities, ya dig? For personal experiences I can tell it's the worst finding yourself lingering at sudden: between an possibly loveably freaking dream to share and just a dusty cloud of debris after loss of passion properly applied. Make sure of not loosing your passion, although, as one artistically mutual favour, okay? Pretty please? Apply always the proper passion. Which feels most adequate one. Happiness, for me, now, isn't a constant state of tranquility. It's rather a feeling of feeling constant to your present. Persevere but also... mind on being kind to yourself, as you'd wish one desired lover to be to you. This is honestly what's been keeping myself moving. So don't you forget minding those nice personal thrusting, please? ...2024??? Okay then. There we'll go. See ya longer there. Will you be keeping on your updates, so? Please make my nighttime.

  8. I love your music, and id be honored if I could play it. might you be willing to post the midi's for the Cube Gothic ost somewhere public?

    1. Sure, I can. But I must say that "Reason 3" (the software I'm using) isn't very good at midi export. Sounds OK, but in some cases it's hard to "read". Especially when I'm using some instrument for just one note. :D

    1. Thanks! Many things (and people) are influencing me daily. But if I would have to name some particularly awesome people (one per media), I would write this list:
(wn - well-known; RO - (relatively) obscure; sp - special)

ART: (WN) Rembrandt (RO) Vrubel (SP) Goya
MUSIC: (WN) Beethoven (RO) Elgar (SP) Tchaikovsky
LITERATURE: (WN) Leo Tolstoy (RO) Pasternak (SP) Dostoevsky
MOVIE: (WN) Lynch (RO) Kitano (SP) Tarkovsky
ANIMATION: (WN) Miyazaki (RO) Dudok de Wit (SP) Petrov
GAMES: (WN) Mechner (RO) Tomoyoshi Miyazaki (SP) Ueda

And many, many, many others. These are the names that I can remember easily. :)

  11. Hello, it's me, the boy that made the Invisible Sorrow piano cover in youtube jajaja, i'm glad to talk with you, i'm a fanatic of your games, your art style and the music that you've create. I have a question. how do you make the animation of "talking face" when the PJ encounters with the floating head on Cube Gothic... when the boss is defeated?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi! Thank you for your cover again! :)

The animation is made on the very old version of Photoshop. It's a simple "manipulation" done with various tools. Mostly, "warp" tool. I can do the same thing on another software I'm using - "Clip Studio". But I think that there are better programs for animation than the ones I'm using.

  12. Just played through D1896. Really liked it but holy hell I question how long you'd expect someone to spend on the shadow maze before figuring out what has to be done. All the other puzzles? Not too rough, but that one was something entirely.

Excited to play the other games in the trilogy!

    1. Thank you! I'm glad you like the game and I'm sorry for your unpleasant experience in the shadow maze. Getting stuck is never fun. Mazes in general are not fun :D

The other 2 games are much more human-friendly (as people who played them say).

  13. You are an extremely talented artist, musician, programmer and story teller.
You have inspired me to take my own creations seriously and wholeheartedly commit to creating.
I wish you luck in future endeavors and in life!

  14. Hello! So, I played Cube Gothic about when it came out as well as D1986. I love your art style and visions, you make great art and have lots of dedication. I was wondering if you'd be interested in chatting about game design and such? I'm very curious about your development process and your experience making all these games. Also, I'm a writer and a native English speaker (as well as just being good at language.) If you'd like some help polishing up any of your project's English, another head to help write with, do game design, or another composer (I've written music all my life) send me an Email (I dunno how else to contact you) at megakurt@icloud.com or contact me at https://twitter.com/PixeldDonut. If you decide against it, I hope you have a wonderful day and wish you lots of luck in future endeavors!

  15. Your work is so so beautiful! Really super impressive. Especially the visuals. I can never tell what's an illustration, or a manipulated photograph, or what's going on with your visuals - would you be willing to share what techniques you use to create your graphics? Thanks for taking the time to read my message :)

i've played a few of your games (D1896 and Castlevania: seal of the curse). Lovely games, the artstyle is slightly disturbing, but amazing. it feels like you combined the Scorn artstyle and made it 2d. absolutely amazing. and i really wanted to ask - how did you get the idea of making these video games? how did Mirage of Dragon came to be? and the final Question - are there any more games coming?
